RED MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB

RED MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB

Built on the site of a former tin mine, Red Mountain Golf Club runs through the mountains of Phuket leaving the natural environment untouched and is one of the most beautiful golf courses on the island. Because of the surrounding mountains, forests, lakes and rocks, you feel a sense of solitude in every hole you are currently playing. At the same time, it is located in the central area of Phuket Island, just 15 minutes from Patong Beach and 20 minutes from Phuket Town.
The club received the Platinum Golf Course of the Year award in 2011 at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) in Singapore, which was received on behalf of Red Mountain Golf Club, PGA Professional & Marketing by Manager - Michael Brasier.
Michael Brassier: “We are proud to be one of the HAPA winners this year. Ever since we opened Red Mountain Golf Club in early 2008, we have been committed to providing golfers who come to Phuket from all over the world with the ultimate golf experience. This is a fantastic start to the 2012 high season that we would like to share with all of our guests, team and supporters."
Passing through a truly impressive former 1400 rai tin mine (rai is a Thai measure of area, 1 rai is approximately equal to 1600 m2.) in the heart of Phuket, Red Mountain is definitely one of the most interesting golf courses in Asia. The club's course is designed so that you can take advantage of the variety of terrain and dizzying elevation changes.

The scars leftover from the tin mine era were wonderfully incorporated into the overall scheme, creating a unique character while establishing a strong connection to an important era in the past. Designer Jon Morrow and co-designer Al Tikkanen created a highly complex and strategic 6,900-yard layout to complement the shorter Loch Palm Golf Club, which is located nearby and is owned by the same owners as Red Mountain. Opening its doors in 2007, Red Mountain is the youngest golf club in Phuket.
But, despite its short history, the club managed to host a large number of prestigious competitions. Such as Carnegie`s International Golf Open in 2010, Isuzu Thailand Masters in 2011,2013 and 2014, BMW Tournament in 2012, 2013 and 2014, Mercedes Trophy in 2015 and many others.
Undoubtedly, this field is difficult, but the numerous options for risky shots and the rewards for them create an inimitable gaming atmosphere. Exciting challenges and breathtaking scenic views make Red Mountain a landmark for golf in the region.
